Impressions of Flamenco for Wind Symphony

With their red ruffled dresses flowing with their turns, Flamenco dancers preserve the culture of Spain. The flower in her hair moves with the black bun on her head, the guitar providing the rhythms of flamenco. Combining the Gitano, Arabic, and Jewish cultures, the Flamenco has several styles, or palos. One of the palos, referred to as Soleà, is known as the “mother of palos”, utilizing a slow and expressive tempo, danced to in one’s own time. This orchestration takes a soleá inspired melody and has it permeate throughout the piece. Fragments of the melody flow throughout each variation, present in every part of the music. 50% of all profits will go to Del Forzza Chamber Music Society.
